One Minute Sweet Silver Blues
"Sweet Silver Blues," by Glen Cook, reviewed. One problem I've always had with this book is the cover, which shows a group of gnomish looking folks, one of which is carrying an Uzi. Also, there's a phone on the counter behind Garrett. There are no guns or phones in this book. At all. There's plenty of poison, knives, flying fists and feet, magic spells and powders, and dead people, though.
I first read this when I was about 16 – it was interesting coming back to it more than 16 years later. Some books I go back to and I can't get past the first few pages, because i realize that if I continue, I'll destroy the memories I have of enjoying a certain book. Not so with this one – it's still good all these years later, but for different reasons. I love it when that happens!
